What a good time we had last week with some family in town. It is always good to see the Jones'. As you can see we laughed a lot, toured the promise land, ate some Sunshine Buns, floated the creek and found some hands. Thanks for the memories family!

Kimberly and I just got back from a most excellent road trip. We bolted out of Chico, Ca. and headed through Portland, Or. to the beloved Seattle, Wa. area. Once finding Gig Harbor, Wa., K Stone Photography shot a wedding in the harbor. The Edgewater House was one of the most beautiful estates we have ever shot at. Gosh that was a ton of fun! Once finished in Gig Harbor we fired up the Corolla and rode off toward Spokane, Wa. It was such a great few days in the Northwest. Thanks for the good memories family and friends!

For weeks Kimberly and I have looked forward to getting away. Crazy seasons call for some crazy good rest and that is exactly what we got this last week. Cannon Beach was beautiful! The forecast predicted rain, but all we got was sun. Thank-you God for the sun, it was an amazing couple of days. Good times, real good times!

Today marks a very special day in my life. Mr. Jones handed over the keys to my girl's heart. Six years ago I married my best friend, Kimberly Jones (used to be). I remember it like it was yesterday.

It was a Friday evening in Spokane, Washington. Some of you may remember, it was cloudy that day with a chance of rain. That chance became reality with about an hour before the ceremony. Did that faze my girl though? Not at all. All that radiated from her was pure joy. Rain or shine, we were going to do this thing.

As for me, I had excitement running through my veins. What a great day, surrounded with family, friends, and the most beautiful bride I had ever seen. As Kimberly walked down the isle I couldn't believe my eyes. I couldn't believe I would soon be calling her my wife. My favorite part of the ceremony was when she said those two ridiculously awesome words... I do. At that point all the excitement in my veins bursted into a huge smile as I thought, "Gosh I love this girl."

Six years later, I am still saying the same thing. Thanks Kimmerz for everything. You are so beautiful and I love you so much. Happy Anniversary baby!

What did you do for your Spring Break?

Well this is a little late coming, but this spring break Kimberly and I headed to Mexico to build homes with AMOR Ministriesf. We took 90 people to Tecate for 3.5 days and built 5 homes. It was quite cool what God did. My favorite part of the trip was to hear our students talk about what God had taught them. Some of there testimonies of how God was changing their lives blew my socks off. God is so good!

Another highlight of mine was having our cousin there with us. Brett did an amazing job of sharing. I love his heart for missional living and it was so cool to have him express and challenge our students in that manner.

First Christmas with just us...

This Christmas is a little different. Kimberly and I have decided to stay home instead of go to our parents like usual. Around this time we are usually counting the gifts around the tree, playing games and peeking into our stockings. As I sit and write this I can recall the smell of my Mom's Christmas treats baking in the oven (her peanut butter balls are the best).

Like I had mentioned, were in Chico for Christmas and although it is different, it is good. Today I got to hang with my beautiful bride, dropping goodies with Christmas card off for our friends at Starbucks, drink some coffee, search for stocking stuffers, go on a run, and soon head over to some friends for Christmas eve. All around it has been a different, but a swell day.

As I think about this Christmas and how it is a little different, I remember one thing that remains the same. 1 Peter 1:3 says, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The consistent thing for me will always be.... Jesus Christ on Christmas. It is because of this precious gift I can have a real hope. This Christmas, I am so thankful for that. Please join me this Christmas in celebrating Jesus.

Every year around this time, I get a little nervous -- It is time for us, professional photographers, to take a nice self portrait for the Christmas Card. Oh dear, talk about pressure -- Pressure to have a good hair day (which doesn't happen often), pressure to take a photo with excellent composition and lighting, pressure to tilt our heads just right, there's just so much pressure (All Self-Induced, of course).

Well, today was that day and after at least thirty minutes of trying to take a nicely composed shot, we ended up with a one or two good ones. I know, you want to see which one we picked for our christmas card -- but I am sorry. I cannot show that to you. You see, I want everyone to be surprised when they open our Christmas Card. Maybe I am just silly about all of this, but what would be the fun of seeing a photo that you have already seen?

For now, here is our very last shot of the day -- And while our faces may look surprised here -- we really weren't and if some of you are reading into our expressions, they mean nothing more than silliness!

Last night we had to document our five year anniversary! We dressed up, all colorful, and spent the night on the town. Little did we know that Chico State's graduation ceremonies are this weekend and last night's restaurants were packed.... Oh dear, always an adventure for us two! After trying to find a place with a wait less than an hour, we decided on frozen yogurt! Don't worry though, we ordered pizza in and watched our wedding video together! It was such a fun night! I am so blessed to be married to Kenny!

The Rumors are True...

... and no, we are not pregnant (sorry family...). Many of you know that Kenny and I have moved again -- and this time, it is a big move! Last Friday, Kenny and I officially became Californians!

The journey began six months ago, when Kenny was interviewing for new ministry positions. In late July, we traveled to Chico, California where Kenny interviewed at a church. We could hardly believe that God would take us further away from our families, at this point in our lives, but we trusted Him and traveled down to Chico for a weekend. The weekend was incredible, we fell in love with the people, but just could not fathom a move to California.

We stayed in Oregon, Kenny taking a job at a church in West Linn. However, weeks and then months into his new job, we continued to sense God really wanted us in Chico. "God, you are not really asking us to go to California, are you?"

I would wonder and wonder why God had given us such a burden for Chico. Our life in West Linn was panning out perfectly. Kenny had a great new job -- We had renters in our small condo across town -- we were living in a beautiful brand new townhome -- photography was going great -- finally life was going to settle a bit....

God had different plans and it became very obvious that He was not going to take away our burden for Chico, California.

In December, we finally began to pray more fervently for wisdom and direction and peace. We contacted Chico -- who quickly confirmed the same kind of feelings that we were having. In fact, although we had declined their offer in August, there were leaders in their church praying that we would change our minds.

In January, we finally discerned that God was calling us to Chico. Kenny resigned at our new church and after another round of interviews and candidating, it became official that we were moving to California.

I am still in awe and shock at how God works. I never would have written this story. In fact, if you would have told me one year ago that I was going to move to Chico, California, I think I may have laughed at you or run the other way! But God works in wonderful and mysterious ways. His plans are far above our own. And I really believe that. He wants to write stories that point to Him!

So here I am -- I live in Chico, California. I have so many things to trust the Lord with. Right now, we are living with another family while our empty condo is for sale in Hillsboro. I am starting over in my photography business -- building clients in Northern California. I am farther away from family and all that I have ever known. However, I have peace and there is great freedom in knowing that God is going to write this new story.

Some of our Favorite People!

There are people that come into your lives and make a difference: They are the kind of people who are real, deep and sincere. They are the kind of people that stay long enough to really ask the hard questions, that care enough to listen. They are the kind of people that you dream of having as friends, but the chance rarely exists.

Four and a half years ago, Kenny and I met Josh and Bethany -- two people who came into our lives and made a difference.

We first met the Fegles at Riverwest Church, where Josh was the Youth Pastor. As you can imagine, Josh and Kenny had a lot in common with their love for ministry and life. Bethany and I quickly discovered how much we had in common -- seriously, we are like sisters! Our friendship quickly turned into something deep and our visits often lasted until the wee hours of morning (and they still do -- hence the bags under my eyes today :)).

Throughout the last four years, we have all adventured through many changes. Josh and Bethany have two beautiful children -- Jude and Selah -- who I hope to betrothe one of my children to someday! We have been through a lot of seasons together and have remained close friends, really close friends!

Josh and Bethany have celebrated with us many times! They have walked alongside us during some of the hardest times of our life. They have prayed for us, cried with us, laughed among us, and challenged us.

Josh and Bethany have made our lives rich. We are so grateful that God saw fit to bring our families together! Our lives will never be the same because of them!

Fragments of my Thoughts....

Tonight is one of those nights that I cannot sleep. There is so much on my mind. I feel framented -- my thoughts are jumbled. They move anywhere from our home in Hillsboro that needs to sell to my bad hair cut that I received last week to the amazing depth of God's grace! I am really all over the place...

Isn't life interesting, isn't is full of adventures, challenges and greatness. We are swept off our feet by love, we are brought to tears by pain, we are distracted by all the world has to offer. There are so many things that swirl around us, how can we really stay focused.

In all of this, I am drawn to simplicity. God is enough. He is faithful -- He is sure -- He is strong. He is beautiful -- and He created beauty in me. He is sovereign -- He is forgiving -- He is great! He is Hope and He is enough!

As I reflect on God -- I am overwhelmed by all that He is. Life is complicated, but the love of God is simple, it is real, and it is enough.

I pray that Kenny and I will have the courage to make our life simple. Satan wants to distract us with chaos, but God wants to rule our hearts. How can we really be quiet enough to hear him, when our lives are so full?

Sorry if this blog itself is a bit fragmented... I guess that can happen in the wee hours of the morning...

Just Quiet...

Piano music plays in the background right now as I sit in my freshly cleaned, almost unpacked living room. There is something soothing about this moment -- God has given me the gift of quiet today -- something that has been lacking in my life for the past while. Things have just been really busy -- but now, today is quiet.

I thank God for this gift. It is almost as if I am in the presence of Jesus: for I feel peace. A deep peace, that nearly overwhelms me and pushes me to rest.

So for today and tomorrow, I will rest. As soon as Kenny arrives home, we will rest. Oh yes, and I can almost taste the coffee at Peets -- that we will indulge in this afternoon :)

How Deep The Father's Love for Us....

It has been a whirlwind of a few weeks for our family. We have had a lot to process and a lot on our plate. Through all of it, however, I can sit here, take a deep breath, and know that God is powerful and that He loves me so much!

Two weeks ago today, a dear student from our ministry at Harvest passed away. He was a senior, and only one week before his passing, I had the privelege of capturing his senior photos. Jake was a cowboy -- He always made us laugh and we are grieving his death. We felt overwhelmed by this tragedy, but in the midst of this sorrow, God gave us great wisdom and strength.

Three weeks ago, Kenny began his new job at Willamette Christian Church in West Linn! It is so exciting -- and exhausting all at once! We are meeting new people every day, being immersed in a new culture and loving what God is doing in our lives through this change. It has been a lot of work for Kenny -- lots of long days and hard work, but we know that God has called us here! That is what makes it all worth it!

Last Friday, we moved to West Linn: Whew, was it only four days ago? So much has happened, and I can hardly believe that we are here! God has provided us with a beautiful, beautiful home! We are renting out our home in Hillsboro and renting a three bedroom brand new townhome here in West Linn. Through all of the circumstances that brought us here, we can definitely say that God is our provision, and He has woven together some amazing pieces to this story.

In the midst of all this, I find myself emotionally exhausted! God has revealed to us through all these things, the good and the challenging, that He is powerful! In one moment, we can grieve the death of a dear student and in another, we can rest in the sovereignty of God. He loves us all so much -- He is so interested in Glorifying Himself in our lives -- and He uses both tragedy and victory to reveal His great love to the world. Praise the Lord with me -- for He loves each of us deeply!

I Love My Family...

Bittersweet...

Today we said goodbye to our Harvest Community Church Family. It was a very difficult day, filled with mixed emotions. It is another test of faith in my life: Do I trust God? Do I trust God with all of the good and challenging things that this past month has brought? Do I trust God with the students that we have grown to love?
Do I trust God with all of the unknowns that lay in front of us?

I believe that God is good, He is the only thing that is truly good! So with these questions, we cling to Him with our life. We cling to His promises: And we press on to see Him weaving a new story into our lives. Trust the Lord with us and know that He is faithful!

Life is an Adventure...

This blog post has been a little time coming as I have wanted to write for the past month. I needed to be patient as we waited for the right timing:

After almost three years with Harvest Community Church, Kenny and I will be moving to a new ministry with a new family early next month. It is a bittersweet transition -- God certainly had us at Harvest for many reasons -- reasons that I may not even know yet at this point in my life. I thank God for the time He gave us at Harvest and the precious students and families that we met along the way. We truly love the people that we have lived life alongside for the past three years.

As for the new adventure: After visiting a church in West Linn on a Saturday evening with friends, God began to weave together this new story. In September, Kenny will begin his new role as Youth Pastor at Willamette Christian Church. He is excited about this -- nervous for all of the transitions -- yet trust that our God will take care of all the details.

It has not been an easy decision for us. However, God has creatively and strongly called us to this new place. We will leave behind, and in the hand of God, some amazing people at Harvest. They have given us stories and made our relationship with Christ richer. They have made us cry at times, made us laugh and made us fall more in love.

Thank you to all of our brothers and sisters who have walked this adventure with us. We are so grateful that God would grant us the opportunity to know you and serve Him with you.

Love For This Man!

In this journey, I am so thankful for my hubby -- for his love for the Lord, his dedication and incredible work in the local church, and his sacrificial love for me.

God's Love in Tangible Ways...

God has been showering me with His love in very tangible ways this week. This is one of them: a bouquet of flowers delivered to my doorstep today. Wow! I feel so loved, overwhelmed in fact!

Someday soon I will share more with you about God's tangible ways of loving us through people, through the air that we breathe each day and through the small and big things that He gives us here on this earth. Oh, what will heaven be like?

Avocados and Jesus

I am taking a big breath of fresh air right now -- as I realize all the ways that God has sustained and strengthened me this week. I have about an hour until I am off to the next thing, but I had to take a moment to process one of the things that God taught me this week:

I have been craving homemade guacamole! Usually, Kenny and I have avocados in the house, but for the past couple months, Winco decided to price avocados too high for my liking :) This week, however, I decided to splurge and buy two avocados!

I guess in my month reprieve from avocados, I forgot how messy they were. Really, getting to the good stuff can be extremely messy -- the entire palm of my hand was covered in green and let's admit it, getting the pit out, can be a real slippery act!

As I was doing this last Wednesday, I began to think -- isn't this a lot like life as a Jesus - follower?
Oh boy, we can have some very messy seasons -- but if we long for the "Good Stuff", more than momentary pleasure, we will eventually taste the greatness!

I was reminded today in my Bible Study, "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33
When I think of "trouble" in this verse, I think of messy -- I think of all the things that we wade through in life: The challenging and chaotic seasons, the broken seasons, the painful seasons, and even the glorious, but only "glorious as we know it on this side of heaven" seasons. All of these seasons are placed in our life by a God who is working out His best for us, so that He may capture all of our hearts. This process is messy, but we end up longing even more for the good stuff -- the things that last forever!

I apologize if this analogy is a little too farfetched for some of you -- but I appreciated it!
So my splurge on avocados was definitely worth it -- one, because the homemade guacamole was incredible! But also because I think that I saw somewhat of God's plan in my messy peeling of avocados. God wants to give us the good stuff -- but we have to be willing to accept and live in the messy -- "pits and all"!

I have been feeling a bit overwhelmed lately (hence the blog post at two in the morning ). Life has suddenly come at us quickly and in large doses. The funny part is -- this is what we have been praying for.

First of all, photography is taking off -- I am so thankful! Starting this week, we have at least two photo sessions per week and three weddings in the month of August. Wow! That is such a blessing and I thank God for the way that He is providing. It will keep us very busy though -- looking at our calendar, this means that Kenny really works six days a week right now, sometimes seven and that is a lot! In between all of the photo shoots, there is can be a massive amount of editing -- hours upon hours, especially for those weddings!

My sister gets married in less than two weeks! That is right -- we are headed to Spokane soon for a very important day in the life of the Jones family. I am so happy for them -- so excited that God has brought Brandon and Marissa together. It will be an action packed week in Spokane and I can't wait!

In the life of a youth pastor, there are more full seasons of ministry. Summer just happens to be one of those seasons. Thankfully, summer camp has come and gone and August will be filled with a few lighter events and ministry opportunities.

In the midst of all these things, life continues to happen for Kenny and I. We have some exciting and challenging things happening -- and they are taking up a lot of our time right now.

So as God stirs up our life and takes us on new adventures, how do I keep myself from being overwhelmed? I don't -- but God can! He is more than able to carry us through these next six weeks. He is more than able to give us strength to get through the very large load on our plate right now. He will help us, for He is the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe. I truly believe in the power of God.
So there you have it -- I could tell you much more, but I will leave it at this: If you think of the Stones, pray for us. We could definitely use it right now.

Oh Summer Camp!

We just returned from a week of summer camp with 90 students and leaders in Central Oregon! What an adventure! My husband did a great job of preparing and leading our group -- I am so proud of him.
Going to camp as an adult is always interesting -- Each year at camp, my experience has been different. This year, I was not really prepared for all that God would teach me.
I have been distracted a lot lately --distracted by a lot of small challenges and also some big thoughts regarding what the future holds for me, and for our family.
With all of this distraction, my spiritual life had been crowded with requests to God: Requests, rather than praise and gratitude for our Amazing God.
Would I realize and believe that God alone is enough?
After only a day with lots of students, plenty of dirt and lack of sleep, I began to realize just how worn down I really was. My hope had been fixed on the wrong thing -- I wanted God's gifts, not the Giver, Himself. And so, I had to ask myself, "Is God really enough... Above anything else in my life, do I really want to accept everything that God places in my life as His good and pleasing will?"
Oh, I wrestled with these questions this week in the midst of my camp experience. And God was gracious to me -- He once again drew me to Himself in a new and fresh way. As I dug into God's Word and ate up every moment I could get alone with Him -- I began to see just where my thoughts had taken me and how far away they had taken me from living in the peace and fulfillment of God alone.
As I am now home from camp, I hope that I will continue to live in the freedom that God is enough. I want to trust Him with all of my heart -- to believe in God alone. I want to believe in God, not because of the things that He will do -- but because of what He has already done!

Amanda is one of our "all star" leaders at camp. She leads a group of seventh grade girls. I was so inspired as she, a college student, also gave of her own money, to pay for one of her girls to come to camp. What an amazing example of generosity and love for students that she has.

I know I have been absent for awhile from this blog -- and you may even see lesss of my thoughts on this blog, as my photography journal could certainly become all that I post on!

Photography has been an incredible journey for me lately. I am learning so much -- every day! I am thankful for all of the people who have given me a chance to take photos for them. I absolutely enjoy every photo session -- people are so amazing. Capturing their personalities -- capturing the beauty of God that He has marked on humans is truly an amazing gift for me.

Another Reason to be Thankful!

I was definitely discouraged the other day, having a bad attitude and just not being nice...Oh dear! As I was sitting in my pity, I looked up at a sign on my wall and saw "In Everything Give Thanks.."...
Now I chose to put that sign up in my house, nobody twisted my arm and made me do it, but on that day, I definitely questioned why I would do such a thing!?
Do I even believe that in everything I need to give thanks? Should I really be thankful for the challenges that are in my life? Do I really have to appreciate the months and months (it really feels like years...) of "being patient" that we have had to endure? I have been thinking about this for the last couple days...

I have decided that the sign is right, and I think I know why: I have been saved from the worst pain imagineable. I know Someone who died for me; I know Someone who was humiliated for me; I know Someone who loves me more than I could imagine and much more than I deserve...Is that enough to make me thankful for the rest of my life?

Certainly! This kind of information and this kind of radical love should transform me! It should make me the most grateful person in the world! Oh, these past few days, I have not lived this way... and I regret that.
So, one of the many things that I am grateful for today is that sign that hangs in my house. It convicted me this week, it reminded me of the Gospel -- of everything that matters to me! I will keep that sign in my house and I will continue to let the Gospel, the fact that Jesus died for me, change my life.

Four Incredible Years!

Kenny and I celebrated our fourth year of marriage this past weekend! Wow, what an incredible, humbling, amazing journey!
Our weekend didn't really begin until Sunday afternoon -- so we began the weekend with dinner and swing dancing. (Ok, and I must tell you -- Kenny and I are not very good swing dancers -- and the lesson was nothing like we thought it would be...)
On Monday we headed out to Cannon Beach where we really got a "breath of fresh air". There is certainly so many things about the beach that Kenny and I just love!
I thank God for Kenny and the way that he cares for our family. He truly is my best friend -- I respect him so much and because of his love for me, I can only begin to fathom how much God loves me.

Happy Mother's Day to the many, many women who have labored in the miraculous work of Motherhood!

On this day, I could not be more grateful for my Mom. She is an incredible woman and most recently I have been astounded by her unselfishness and desire to serve the people around her!

My Mom is such a servant! She is constantly doing things for other people. Often times it is the simple things: Cooking and taking food to my Dad and his coworkers (always gourmet food, you should know), or running an errand for my Grandma, or sending a thoughtful card in the mail. A comprehensive list of all the small ways that she serves would really take days to complete.

Then there are the times, when my Mom just amazes me: Times, where I get exhausted thinking about all that she has done, in order to bless other people: For example, she has spent the last three days in Pullman for my sister's college graduation. In the two days that I was there, I saw my Mom give out at least ten different gifts to Marissa's friends, roomates and professors, just to show her appreciation. She also hosted a celebration in Pullman (this included grocery shopping and preparing food ahead of time). Among all of these things, she served my grandparents throughout the weekend, helped my sister pack and move away from Pullman, and somehow managed to prepare an amazing anniversary celebration and gift for Kenny and I!

This is just one weekend, where her life was dedicated to blessing the people around her. Again, a comprehensive list of all the "big" things that she does for others would take days to complete.

So, on this Mother's day, I am especially grateful to my Mom and the example that she is to me. I know that her heart of service, comes from her deep love for God. Thank you Mom for sharing Jesus with all of us. You are a beautiful woman, amazing mother, and dear friend. Happy Mothers Day... I love you!

Something New

Do you ever just crave change? I definitely do and today was one of those days ! In an effort to spare my living room one more re-arrange or myself one more bad hair cut, I decided to change my blog today. I started with a new photo -- one that just catches Kenny and I in our element (I just love that guy). Then, on to the background fun. I think the one that I picked out will due, at least for now!

Oh, it feels good! I just love something fresh, something that brings a little bit of life to what has become dull. Don't we all?

That makes me think about life as a christian -- God gives us the opportunity to walk in an exciting, full life. Do I choose this?

To be honest, I had a pretty rough week -- I was discouraged by some of life's circumstances and just weary. As I shared some of these things with my Mom, she gave me some great perspective through these words:

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and to destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." John 10:10.

I know that... I know that... but do I really believe it? Could the moments that I am in right now, really be full of life and richness?

As I have digested these truths this week, I have been encouraged. I begin to see that every day God will pour life into my body, even when it is weary.

Just as something as simple as a blog change can bring a little bit of refreshment to me -- the God of the Universe longs to breathe life into my soul. Will I let Him?

The American Dream....

These past few months have been crazy for Kenny and I!

As some of you may know, in February, after two years, I finished my work as a guidance counselor. The school was going through a lot of changes and I clearly sensed that God was moving me away from the chaos. Within the next month, Kenny received a pay cut at the church, due to the economy. At the same time, we both felt strongly that I was to stay home and pursue our photography business... Really, within about a months time, we lost half of our income.

What has this done for us? Let me tell you, it has been amazing! The illusion of control and comfort is gone. It is as if a filter has been removed from our eyes, and we truly understand that God is the provider of EVERYTHING!

You know, it is hard to live in America. We feel entitled to so much -- we chase the "American dream", look forward to our luxuries and think that these are essentials to living. At least that is what I always thought. After four years of marriage, shouldn't we have the beautiful home filled with beautiful things? Isn't this God's dream for me?

While God may bless me with material things in this life, His greatest blessings come from eternity -- the great Hope of loving Jesus and loving people! How I want to dream about these kind of things. Losing so much income in the past few months, has helped, more than you know!

God is certainly the great Provider for Kenny and I. We have seen that in some incredible miracles this year. Thank you Jesus for provision and for changing our hearts in the process. May we always give back to Jesus, no matter what the cost.

Sometimes Kenny and I find ourselves wishing we were in a different season of life... but then we remember that God knows best. So, we are not simply content right now, but thankful and thriving! Thank you God for our precious time together. God willing, we will have a family someday, and then we won't be able to go back to "just the two of us"!

No Better Way...

I am reading a book right now that has absolutely rocked my world. It has made me question my faith -- made me wonder if I am really in love with Jesus. Do I live my life with full abandon, expecting that God will be glorified in me, in every season of my life?

As I ask myself these questions, I am humbled. I am humbled by a God who I cannot even begin to understand. God made this world -- this universe, and yet I am so easily drawn to think about myself.

Awhile ago, if you asked me what the point of my life is, I would say to worship God -- to bring Him glory. Did I really mean that and at what cost was I willing to do this? Certainly not at the cost of my dreams...

But wait -- God is softening my heart, He is allowing me to understand His dreams, that highly exceed my own. You see, I am falling in love with a God who died for me -- a God who gave up every right He ever had to make sure that I knew Him. Amazing Love indeed! Better than any dream that I have -- and most definitely worth living for. I have to keep pursuing God!

If you are searching for a book that will challenge you, please read "Crazy Love" by Francis Chan. Just know, that God may use it to change your life!

Reason to Praise

Throughout my lifetime, I have struggled with worry and anxiety. Three years ago, my anxiety began to produce physical symptoms -- These challenges have definitely drawn me to Jesus in a deep and rich way.

I realize that my anxiety is produced by a worry of the unknown. My thoughts are drawn to the here and now, rather than a constant focus on eternity. I am sure many of you know that struggle.

Praise -- that is what I need to do. I need to Praise God because this will not last forever. I need to Praise God because that is what I was created to do. Earth is full of aches and pains, so many challenges, yet God has given us peace because this too will pass. One day we will be whole! My ache for eternity and understanding of true peace has definitely become stronger because of this.

I want to talk openly about this challenge, because I don't think enough of us do. It is evident to all of us, that life is not easy. God has called us to care for one another. If I can help care for others by telling my story, then I don't want to waste another day.

I just love my family so much! God has definitely given Kenny and I incredible people who constantly support us and show their love to us. It is amazing to think that God's love and loyalty does not even compare to this!

I have learned a lot in the last couple weeks. Mostly, I have been reminded of God's greatness and ability to carry us through life. He really does carry us -- and He cares for us.

Kenny and I have been praying for an opportunity to get away for a couple days. This past week, we found a great special at a resort in Bend. When we called the resort, we were disappointed to learn that the price was no longer available. The next morning I prayed specifically for the price that we could afford. When I spoke with someone later that day, the resort not only met the price that I prayed for, but we actually ended up with a better deal!

There are a few lessons that I learned from this: First of all, we could have become impatient and gone ahead of the Lord -- not experiencing His best for us. It made me wonder, how many times have I done this in life?
Second, isn't God amazing? He cares about every detail of our life and exceeds most of our expectations (though sometimes we may not recognize this).

I know I am learning how to trust God -- and to pray specifically for His provision. As I do this, my perspective changes and I am able to see how God's great plans for me always point to eternity!

So I eagerly and patiently expect God to continue His work in my life. I am already feeling renewed and refreshed!

Life Can Be Hard....

The past days have been very challenging in the Stone home. We know that God has allowed this season, but sometimes we just feel exhausted.
That's where this photo comes in: This picture, taken at Cannon Beach, reminds me that life is full of seasons. Sometimes we experience great excitement and refreshment (much like our times at the beach). Sometimes life is discouraging and exhausting. In it all -- God never changes! So, as I reflect on this photo, I remember that God is weaving His plans into our life and that means we must accept the hard things with joy, just as much as we accept our walks along the beach!

I know that Valentines Day was last weekend, but Kenny and I were on a youth retreat.
So, we spent some time this week enjoying our "Valentines Day". Friday afternoon was beautiful here in Oregon and I convinced Kenny to take part of the afternoon off to enjoy the weather and go on a date. After picking up some delicious chai tea lattes, we headed to the park where we threw the baseball around and just enjoyed each other's company. Of course, we had to take the camera and capture some photos as well! It was an amazing time together! One of those very simple, but memorable afternoons.
Kenny is such a great husband -- he loves God so much and that makes our marriage rich!

Crazy Life

It has been a great, challenging, exciting journey for me in the past few months.
Almost three weeks ago, I finished my work at Heritage Christian School. The school has been going through a lot of hard things, and I knew that the Lord was asking me to step away from my position as the Guidance Counselor. To this day, I am unsure why, but still believe that the Lord is sovereign and has a great plan in all of this.

So, it is a new season of life for our family. Suddenly, things are quiet and there is time: Time to breath, time to once again find great depth to my relationship with the Lord. I have time to serve my husband and learn about my role as his wife and companion. I have time to work on photography and listen to what God may have in store for us. While some days seem too quiet, I want to embrace this season and enjoy these slow moments.

What am I learning? One thing that I hope to really grasp is that my worth truly comes from who I am in Christ, not what I do. Isn't that amazing? For many of us, what we accomplish each day defines us, it is our existence. What a crazy world we live in! God never intended it to be this way. Our purpose comes from a deep realization that we are God's creation and desperately need a relationship with Him. Even the good things that we run after can become our gods -- How wonderful to know that only out of my relationship with God, can I truly live and experience security, fullness and depth.

So, I walk each day with expectancy. Hoping to love God more and find deep, refreshing purpose for my brief life here on earth. What a journey! I will keep you updated on how God continues to reveal what may come for me.

Some Favorites!

For the past couple weeks, we have been taking photos at some of our favorite spots. It is amazing to think that we have lived in Hillsboro for two years now. During that time, we have experienced a lot of challenges, yet continue to see God blessing us in immeasurable ways. One of those ways -- Kenny and I continue to grow closer not only as a family, but also as friends.

Photo 1: This first photo, shows our favorite coffee shop -- Insomnia Coffee. The coffee shop is in the middle of Hillsboro and is wonderful. The atmosphere is really cozy and eclectic and most impressively, the organic coffe is some of the best we have ever tasted!

Photo 2: This second photo was taken in downtown Portland near the Pearl District. On a sunny day, we love to walk the streets of downtown Portland, especially in this neighborhood.

Photo 3: When May comes, we will once again be found at the Hillsboro Farmer's Market. Saturday Mornings in downtown Hillsboro, give us an opportunity to enjoy lots of fresh produce and good times.

Photo 4: This last photo was taken in the West Hills of Portland, on an overlook of the city. We love to go for drives into these hills and enjoy the amazing views from the top.

New Sounds in Our Home

Kenny received a guitar for Christmas and so new sounds have filled our home lately. He is good and it is so refreshing to hear this music fill our condo. He really is a man of many talents!

Christmas with the Stones!

We were blessed to spend time with Kenny's family this year in North Washington. We spent the first few days with the immediate family and by Saturday had all 22 of us together. It was relaxing and refreshing and filled with snow -- nearly four feet!

Most of you know that Kenny's Mom spent the last year undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Her hair has begun to grow back and she is darling. She is a living testimony of God's faithfulness to our family. She is always positive and always acknowledges the work of the Lord in her life.

Of course, we had to include a photo of the new family puppy -- "Chemo". The dog was obviously named in tribute to Mom's treatment. He is he cutest thing!

I don't know what to say. It is a winter wonderland. It seems the Portland area is slowly shutting down. PDX is even having trouble. With all the craziness though, there is a little love. How can you not take in the beauty of the snow. It is awesome to see in Portland. We love it. Big smiles from the Stones.

Snow Days and Blog Changes

As you can tell, I have made some changes to our personal blog. Who knows if my husband will like it:) I have had three snow days so far this week and the weather is pushing us to an entire week of snow days, meaning no school for us teachers!
So what am I doing in my free time? Well, I am spending some much needed down time at home and enjoying every moment of it. My soul has been refreshed as I have been able to slow down and listen. I am thankful for the extra time that I have had to spend worshipping the Lord and being more thoughtful of the things that He is teaching me. In all of this, I have also had time to enjoy a great cup of Chai Tea, walk slowly through Target and even enjoy the crowds of people, work on photography and of course update our blog!
The Christmas Season is a wonderful time of year, however, I found it a bit stressful with all that needed to get done. These slow days have given me perspective. We are celebrating the birth of our Savior! It is a season to bless other people in hopes that they will sense the true meaning behind our joy and generosity.

SNOW! Can you believe it?

Well it has happenend! What many have been calling the Arctic Blast finally hit Beaverton. Some thought it would never come, me being one of them. The weather here in Oregon is so sketchy that you never know what to believe. Well now that it is here I am going to enjoy it. Who knows I might just have to build a snowman that looks like Kimberly. Coffee with Kim is the best! I love hanging with my lady. Wednesdays tend to be our family's long day, because of this I am blessed to do an occasional coffee date with her during lunch. I love this time. Many of you out there have experienced coffee with Kimberly and know how awesome it is. She is such a good listener, encourager and companion. Beautiful Fall Colors and Time Together!

Kenny and I finally had some time together today. We made it special by enjoying the amazing fall weather and spending some time outside. We also took some fun photos while we were at the park! Every day, I see more things about Kenny that just blow me away. Lately, I have been absolutely in awe of how God has gifted him. Kenny is very talented. He is creative, artistic, motivational and definitely has the gift of teaching. I love learning from him and seeing him use the gifts that God has given him to serve the world!

We had the opportunity to take photos for three different people and enjoyed every minute of it.

Emily and Donovan are a beautiful couple and we so enjoyed our time together in downtown Portland with them.

Matt is a senior at Westside Christian High School. He was a joy to work with -- and so easy going.

On Sunday we took pictures for the choir teacher at my school and her family. They are an amazing family and so fun! I only wish that we could have spent more time with them!

Last Sunday we were very blessed to spend some time celebrating fall with our friends.

What a beautiful fall we have had here in Oregon and weather is only one of the many things we have been blessed with. We are so grateful for the friends that God has given us -- specifically with Jeremy and Mari (who you see in these pictures). They have become like family to us and honestly, a gift from the Lord.

Time Together

This past weekend, my husband loved me dearly as we celebrated birthdays together. I am so blessed to have him in my life. Here are a few fun photos showing some of the ways he loved me. God has definitely shown me more about His love by giving me a gift so precious as Kenny for my husband!

Kenny and I got the opportunity to hang out with our dear sister and brother-in-law yesterday. We sipped coffee and walked around 23rd street downtown. We had a lot of fun catching up with them and just being together. Family is always such a breath of fresh air!

It has been to long. Kimberly and I love Seattle, WA. I don't really know if there is a better city in the summer time. This place rocks!

Kimberly and I were able to take a few days and venture into Starbuck nation. We met up with the Jones' and celebrated Dave's birthday at the Cheesecake Factory with some mondo pieces of cake. The next morning we needed to wash some cake down with starbucks and follow it up with some golf while the ladies did some girl stuff. For the evening we attended a beautiful wedding full of rug cutting (my wife is incredible on the dance floor) and fine foods. The day was amazing and it was really fun being with family.

Sunday found us in the middle of downtown with the locals. We hit one of our favorite spots... Pike Street Market. It was so much fun to grab some coffee, walk the shops, and take some pics.

Lastly, we headed out of Seattle towards Union, WA. along the Hood Canal. We stayed at a resort on the sound surrounded by beauty and serenity. Our time here was incredible and it allowed us the opportunity to be refreshed before a busy fall season. Cheers to good times!

Summer is Ending

It has been a very busy summer for us and we are sad to see it end.

School will begin at Heritage for me in the next couple weeks -- all of the staff comes back to campus tomorrow for the start of a one week inservice. While I have worked all summer, it is nice to think of the school filling up again.

Kenny has a nice three week break from Youth Group and so we will enjoy a little more down time in our life with this reprieve. It is much needed as we are tired! We began the summer with a senior retreat, next camp began and then we finished with an Urban mission trip a few weeks ago. All of the events were incredible and challenging.

Mostly, God worked in amazing ways.

Pray for us, it is a new season of life and we have a lot of exciting things coming our way. We will keep you posted. Thanks so much for being a part of our journey.

I have been absolutely blessed this past weekend. My mother and sister came to Oregon for a visit while Kenny was away. We had a wonderful time together and I wish I could see them more often.

You will see in one of these photos that we watched the movie "Troop Beverly Hills". Marissa and I used to watch this movie in Junior High and it was so fun to reminisce of our "younger years" (as if we are so old...). Of course, we did some shopping, had some great visits at Starbucks and spent Saturday Morning at the Portland State University Farmers Market!

I love relationships and treasure the bond that I have with my family. What a beautiful Mother and Sister! I love them!
